C Division Floorball: Northland stun Victoria with late goals in comeback win

Republic Polytechnic, Thursday, 30 June, 2011 Northland Sec grabbed a dramatic 4-3 win over Victoria Sec in a second round Group Z match, courtesy of a spectacular long range shot in the final minute by Northland Secs #9.

With the game looking set to end with a 3-3 draw, the diminutive player dribbled past a Victoria player before unleashing an unstoppable shot to the top right hand corner of the Victoria goal.

Victoria had looked to be in the driving seat early in the game with two goals in the first period. Victorias forward #12 scored the first goal in the 10th minute while #4 scored his teams second goal in the 13th minute of the game.

Victoria looked to have sewn up the game in the second period with a third goal, again from #12. However, Northland Sec managed to reply with a goal of their own for narrow the gap to 1-3. Northland Secs #35 scored his teams first goal with 3 minutes left in the second period.

Buoyed by the goal, Northland Sec came roaring back into the game with an all-out attacking effort to salvage the match. Their adventure paid dividends as they scored in the 5th and 10th minutes of the game to level the scores at 3-3.

However, Northland looked in be in dire straits when their forward #33 was sent out of the game for a foul with a minute left in the game.

Reduced to three outfield players served instead to inspire the Northland team as they grabbed a dramatic last gasp winner against a stunned Victoria Sec team. Time soon ran out on any comeback efforts by Victoria Sec as the Northland Sec players thronged the centre circle in celebration.

East View Sec edged out Bukit Merah Sec by a similar 4-3 scoreline in an earlier Group Z match.
