Cooper finishes season with career-best efforts

Zach Cooper posted career best performances in the hurdles and Austen Ditzhazy threw the javelin for the final time as an Albion College student-athlete as the men’s track & field season wrapped up in the Gregory Invitational. Cooper sprinted to times of 15.53 seconds in the 110 meters and 55.21 in the 400.

Clarence Stirgus, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion in the 110-meter hurdles, raced to the finish with a sixth-place time of 15.39 seconds. He reached the final with a 15.34 in the preliminary.

Ditzhazy, the MIAA champion in the javelin throw, finished his fine career with an eight-place effort of 51.06 meters (167’ 6”).

On the track, Aaron Croad completed the 1,500 meters in 4:20.26 in the 1,500 meters, Carl Wharam ran the 800 meters in 1:59.67, and Effrem Grettenberger set a time of 23.03 seconds in the 200.
