Mets officially sign Rauch
NEW YORK – The New York Mets have officially signed right-handed reliever Jon Rauch to a one-year contract.
The 33-year-old Rauch appeared in 53 games for the Toronto Blue Jays last season, spending some time as their closer, as he went 5-4 with 11 saves and a 4.85 earned run average.
Since the 2006 season, Rauch leads all relievers in wins (31) and has appeared in the second-most number of games (434).
Over 468 career contests — 11 starts — with the Chicago White Sox (2002-04), Montreal/Washington (2004-08), Arizona (2008-09), Minnesota (2009-10), and the Blue Jays, Rauch has recorded a 39-31 mark with 58 saves and a 3.82 ERA.
Late Rally Comes Up Short In Loss to Carthage
On one of the coldest nights to hit Albion in the past few weeks the shooting inside of Kresge Gymnasium was equally as cold in a defensive tilt between Albion College and Carthage College.
The Britons were manhandled on the boards and shot just 32 percent from the field en route to a 51-43 loss to the Carthage Red Men. Junior forward Mike Smith led Albion with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
Albion led 9-6 at the 13:49 mark of the first half, but Carthage went on a 17-9 run over the next 8:13 and took a 25-22 lead into halftime.

Football: Singapore won only 24% of all matches in 2011
Singapore football finished 2011 on a losing note, winning only 24%, or seven of 29 matches, across all age groups (see tables below).
Full National Squad The full national squad won only one of seven games played this year, not counting the friendlies. They had a tough World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring an average of one goal per game while leaking 2.4 per game at the back. They had a 1-win, 1-draw and 5-loss (1-1-5) record for 2011.
Their best game in 2011 was their 5-3 win over Malaysia in their first-leg second round World Cup qualifier.
The most disappointing loss was their 1-2 reverse to China in Kunming where the referee gave two dubious penalties to China and denied us one legitimate claim.
The national squad have a losing record over the last five years.
