Albion Carries Six-Game Winning Streak Into 2012

Roundup: Manchester boys basketball falls at Greynolds
BARBERTON, Ohio – Short-handed Manchester competed well, but lack of experience cost the Panthers in a 60-52 boys basketball loss to Northwestern on Friday afternoon at the Greynolds Memorial Classic.
“We’re not about moral victories,” Manchester veteran coach Gene Schindewolf said. “Yes, we fought hard. Yes, I thought we got about every loose ball. But, we also threw the ball to the wrong jersey a number of times.”
The Panthers were without starting junior point guard Bryan Daily (ill) and their most experienced returning player from last season’s 19-3 squad in the form of senior guard Greg Shoemaker (not with the team for an unspecified reason).

UCLA coach hunt focuses on Al Golden, Kevin Sumlin
UCLA is racing to secure a name-brand football coach, aggressively pursuing Miami Coach Al Golden while Athletic Director Dan Guerrero traveled to Houston on Saturday to meet with Cougars coach Kevin Sumlin.
Time is an issue because Texas A&M is reportedly prepared to make an offer to Sumlin, whose seventh-ranked and previously unbeaten Houston team was upset Saturday by Southern Mississippi in the Conference USA championship game. The Cougars are 12-1.
Sumlin denied during a news conference after the game that he had spoken to another school.
