UFC 106 just got a whole lot lighter, literally. The UFC's brick wall of a champion Brock Lesnar has been crumpled by an illness and will not be defending his title on the UFC 106 pay per view on November 21st. Lesnar was scheduled to face off against fellow behemoth and number one contender Shane Carwin, instead, the heavyweight title will be defended on January 2nd at UFC 108.
Much like Lesnar's smothering style of fighting, this illness has held Brock down for several weeks and hasn't allowed him to train for his upcoming bout. Speculation is that it might be the dreaded H1N1 virus, otherwise known as the swine flu) but nothing has been confirmed.
The departure of the Lesnar/Carwin title fight has left the rest UFC 106 card looking as bare as maple tree during winter. The new main event will be a rematch between the returning Tito Ortiz and track star Forrest Griffin.
